Something we’ve noticed over the years is that many brides will opt to visit several bridal boutiques in order to find “the one.” Now, this can be for a wide variety of reasons, and we definitely understand those! It can be a challenging process to find a gown you truly love, and sometimes it feels like you might be at your wits end when you’re at a shop and can’t seem to find the right style.

What we want to talk about in today’s blog post is the negative impact that price shopping can make on finding your dream wedding dress. Now, what does this mean, exactly?
Basically, price shopping is when a bride will book her appointment, come in and try on lots of gowns, and maybe even find one particular gown that she’s absolutely head over heels for. Instead of purchasing the gown at that boutique, she might choose to price shop and see if she can get that same gown at a lower price at another store.
The problem with this is that shopping for a wedding dress isn’t like your typical shopping experience. You’re not searching for a vehicle at a car dealership and shopping around trying to get the best deal. In fact, it’s actually legally required of bridal boutiques to sell designer gowns for the same price no matter what. Unless you’re having a sample sale, gowns aren’t going to be discounted (especially brand-new, made to order gowns). So if you find a gown you love at Mary’s, you’re not going to find that gown at a lower price at the shop a couple of cities over. And if you do, it’s possible that this other store could be partaking in unethical practices, which we definitely don’t want to support!
The thing is, you get what you pay for. If a store is offering an extreme discount for a gown, they’re probably not going to be the most ethical to handle a situation if any errors occur.
It’s also incredibly disappointing when you have a team of bridal gown experts helping you find your dream gown, only to leave and try to find it at a lower price somewhere else from a person who might not have your best interest in mind!
