Top 5 Questions To Ask Bridal Stores When Wedding Dress Shopping

It's important to get your bridal boutique experience right before you buy perhaps the most important dress of your life. As you choose your dress, consider more than just the setting! It’s so important that you know what questions to ask so that you’re as prepared as possible. It helps the entire process go smoothly. Here are 5 of the top questions we recommend you ask when bridal dress shopping:

1) How soon in advance do I need to book my appointment?

It’s important that you know how far in advance you should book because spots can fill up really quickly, especially if you’re looking for a weekend appointment. Most places, Mary’s included, will recommend anywhere between 10-12 months prior to your wedding date.

2) What are the current standard delivery dates?

Usually, you want to order your dress up to a year before your wedding. You also want to leave several months for alterations - at least 2-3!

3) What should I bring with me to my appointment?

Each store varies, so be sure to ask. You might need undergarments, photos of what styles you like, etc. You want to be as prepared as possible! We encourage you to bring pictures of gowns you’ve seen on our site or in magazines. We also provide brides with shoes and undergarments to use when trying on gowns!

4) What is the buying process like?

So when you find a gown you love, what are the next steps? Do I pay in full? Do we pick my sizing that day? These are important to figure out so you get as much accomplished as possible and know what to expect.

5) What does the alteration process look like?

You definitely want to know what the alteration process is like and if a boutique offers in-house alterations or recommendations for seamstresses nearby. We offer in-house alterations here, so we can discuss this at your appointment!
