Wedding Dress Dos & Don'ts for Sensitive Skin

Wedding Dress Dos & Don'ts for Sensitive Skin

When it comes to having sensitive skin, finding a wedding dress can be even more stressful if you’re worried about finding something that won’t irritate your skin! Here’s some of our advice for helping figure out how to find “the one” with sensitive skin:

Wedding dresses can have a rougher exterior that can irritate your skin, especially if it’s more sensitive. Many brides are thinking about the aesthetic of the gown more than how the gown feels. If you have really sensitive skin, we recommend sticking to clean, soft fabrics that feel like butter against your skin. Sometimes the inside of the dress might feel itchy, and there are things you can do to make it more comfortable. You can have a seamstress add a layer of lining or tulle so that your skin isn’t in direct contact with a corseted bodice, for example.

If your dress has some beading, you can actually scratch and hurt your skin if you’re not cautious. Something that can help with friction is applying lotion so it feels more comfortable. Again, you can make alterations as well, like if a stone on the side of the gown is rubbing against your gown. Have it removed and call it a day so you can be comfortable on your dress!

Definitely pick a dress that you can imagine spending lots of time in and make sure your stylist is aware of any skin sensitivities. You can always choose a different gown or make some alterations!

It truly comes down to your personal preference and what comfort level is most important to you.
