It's almost like a rite of passage to shop for a wedding dress. Perhaps you dreamed of it as a child! That’s the case for a lot of brides who walk through our doors looking for “the one.” We believe it’s important that brides of all sizes have the opportunity to find the perfect wedding day dress and recognize that shopping as a plus-sized person can be extremely frustrating. We want to offer you a peace of mind for preparing to shop for your bridal gown here at Mary’s!
So typically when you’re wedding dress shopping, you’re just trying on samples in the store. You won’t usually go home with the wedding dress in hand. Designers actually require boutiques to order gowns in certain sizes so they can cut the same amount of fabric to get dresses to us as fast as possible. This can unfortunately make it a little difficult to have a wide variety of sizes on hand in the store. That said, we do proudly offer plus sizes in the majority of our bridal gowns from sizes 0-30! If you’re concerned about whether we have gowns for you to try on, please give us a call ahead of time so we can make sure that we have what you need!
Also, keep in mind that sizing for wedding gowns is pretty different from street clothes. All brides usually end up wearing dresses that are larger sizes than what they typically wear day to day. Please don’t let this discourage you - the number on the dress does NOT matter! What matters is that you find the perfect wedding dress that makes you feel like the queen you are.
